Filip Rega, MD, PhD
We would like to announce Prof. Dr. Filip Rega, staff member at the Department of Cardiac Surgery at UZ Leuven, as our next speaker. Prof. Dr. Rega is also a professor at KU Leuven, the surgical director of the heart transplantation program and chairman of the counsil of transplantation at UZ Leuven.
With his extensive expertise in adult heart valve surgery and surgery for congenital heart defects in adults, he has contributed to groundbreaking research in the field of heart transplantation. He played a key role in implementing hypothermic oxygenated perfusion (HOPE), an innovative technique that allows donor hearts to be preserved for up to 24 hours outside the body, significantly improving survival rates post-transplantation.
We are looking forward to hear his interesting talk about “Hypothermic Oxygenated Perfusion of the donor heart in hearttransplantation.”
